I'm so sorry. I clicked the wrong name. I think I did? I thought . . . .
Are you all right? I guess you . . . uh - Moore Trading? Is that familiar? Please tell me you're not super young and I didn't just accidentally wake you up.
My name's Feuilly. You didn't wake me up at all. I was just doing some piece work for one of the fan shops. They hire me to do a little extra on the side sometimes, besides my shift. And I'm not THAT young.
It's what - two in the morning local time? I'd hope not.
My name's Damian. I . . . get nerves sometime and thought I was clicking on another name to see if he was up. I had - some bad stuff happen in Lorena. While back. It . . . gets to me some nights.
Right around there, I think, yes. Not too bad. I'll probably be awake a little while yet. I want to wait for this to dry so I can bring it in tomorrow.
Nerves, huh? I sort of know what you mean. Though mine happen under more predictable circumstances. Like with some types of people it's a little overwhelming. Feeling like I'll get in trouble or something. Nothing really BAD has happened so far, but it's there? I don't know either.
And all right, we can talk about those. They're good. Brilliant. I'm trying a new cut design that makes them look a bit like lace ones. Not sure if they'll work out but...
Sounds pretty nice. I know that pasteboard with drilled holes was popular since the lace would yellow or sag and stretch. But - I never saw anyone paint them.
Overwhelming's a good term for it. Too many people or just - predictable things. I knew tonight might be bad.
They were doing this thing for a while there where the - what's the term - the bits where all the bits of the fan come together? That was darker, so it drew eyes to the face. That was in fashion.
This does help. I could . . . I'm reading a book? I could talk about that. It's just knowing that this is real helps.
Oh yeah, I've seen a few different designs. A lot of the women I work with have been there a while, or it's a family sort of thing and they've got examples. I've also been trying to come up with a swan or peacock sort of design. Or i suppose any bird that someone wanted to buy, really. The fan itself looking like feathers and a shaped handle, but my carving's not exactly there yet. Yet.
I'd like to hear about that. I've been reading a few biographies and histories.
Peacock designs back at home would totally have mica yavanite sandwiches which is - kind of dangerous. Fan them too fast and the little inlays could glow from friction. If you used the wrong sort.
I've been reading about the creation of the Canadian colonies flight schools. The theory behind them. It's pretty interesting. Also a terrible romance. Which is more interesting in the "I don't believe my bits or a lady's would work that way" sort of thing. Dialogue's surprisingly good between bad anatomy.
Yavanite, huh? That's used for...all kinds of things isn't it? I can't imagine how crazy that could be. And Oh? Neat. The concept of those is pretty fantastic in and of itself, I have to say. I don't know much about it, but I like the thought. I sort of think I'd like to do something like that someday, on a smaller scale, and well, for just the basic sorts of things. We're supposed to have a law about it here but...
Ah bad romances. Completely warping biology and the way we see it since...Well probably forever. People here still wrap their piano legs...and I wasn't supposed to actually write that word out. Oops.
Yeah. A pilot I knew told me how great the place was and he started when he was tall enough to pass for eleven.
Sad thing was, the school was better than some of his options. You don't realize how much you have until someone shows you - the gaps between, I suppose.
Really? I know that - Lorena has this thing about uncovered "those things down there" to bow to sensibilities are kind of a - improper thing. You could argue that it's safety with the yavanite dust and cold and really, if she's in trousers, you're the cad to check to see if she's got long hose on.
Meanwhile if you asked a man in a kilt to hide his knobby knees, he'd likely suggest he had a right to shiv you. People are strange and selfish like that.
What about you? What history are you reading? I haven't opened one that was serious in months.
Hello?
